Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub listing

Great news – we’ve made it into the annual ‘Estrella Damm’ Top 50 Gastropub listing for the fourth year in a row. We won’t find out our placing until January at the official awards event, but we are over the moon to have made the list once again.

Back in 2017 we made it to number 50 on the list. We followed that up in 2018 by coming in at number 28. We also received recognition for being the highest climber that year. In January (2019) we reached number 20. We’d love to see if we can beat this again in 2020.

The ‘Estrella Damm’ Top 50 Gastropub Awards are voted for by top foodies and hospitality experts. These include gastropub operators, food writers, celebrity and top hospitality industry chefs, pub guide editors, industry chiefs and food operators. The voting criteria ensures the list is truly decided by the industry. It really means a lot to us to have been recognised.

The awards ceremony is organised by The Morning Advertiser. It says the top 50 is the definitive list of the best gastropubs in Britain.

It’s been a wonderful year for us, and this is a grand ending to it. We’d like to salute you, our customers, suppliers and the whole team at the pub, everyone is part of this. Thank you.

  • We have recently retired from running a successful horticultural business in Mid-Devon for nearly 40 years,
and celebrated by eating at your restaurant with 7 friends.
We will continue to open Holbrook Garden occasionally for the National Garden Scheme (NGS).
Meanwhile time is on our side and we will enjoy visiting gastropubs like yours for delicious food.
