Fly fishing getaway

For many fly fishing is so much more than just a hobby.

Not only is it considered a highly competitive sport, but people also find fly fishing a relaxing pastime that helps them unwind.

Keen fishermen scour the country for idyllic spots where they can try their luck. Fishing holidays at fully stocked lakes have become increasingly popular.

Wimbleball Lake near us in Dulverton is a fly fisherman’s paradise. We’re the ideal base for anyone wishing to spend a few days staying with us and fishing on Exmoor.

Wimbleball Fly Fishery is 374 acres in size. Mark Underhill of Rainbow Valley Trout Farm manages the fishery.

He and his team have been growing top quality trout for restocking since the 1980s. They stock Wimbleball with home grown quality fish from 1.75lbs. There are plenty of fish over 3lbs and up into double figures.

After enjoying a day out on the lake, guests can simply pack up and return to our welcoming, award-winning pub for a rest. They can enjoy  a hearty supper and reminisce by the bar about their catch of the day.

We’ll even keep any fish they catch in the fridge for them overnight in readiness for them to take home the next day.

For further fishing information about Wimbleball Lake, which is near Dulverton, Somerset, please call Mark on 07758561412, visit https://bit.ly/2qtCpio or email Wimbleballflyfishery@aol.co.uk.

Day permits are available on-site. The permit office is self-service 24/7 and on the side of the Wimbleball Activity Centre. However, for those who would like some tuition, then Mark can recommend experts who can help too.

Other activities at the lake include a variety of watersports, including hire and tuition. Plus a children’s play area, toilets and showers, a café selling refreshments and gifts, walks and birdwatching opportunities.
