Keeping the kids entertained

If you’re heading our way and booking in with us for a break with your family, then here are a few ideas for keeping the kids entertained at various attractions nearby during your stay.

entertained

Devon Railway Centre

This represents a fun railway-themed family day out at a Victorian Great Western Railway station on the former Exe Valley line. There are two different train rides to experience, an extensive model exhibition and a magic wood to explore, which is home to hundreds of gnomes! You can drive your own train, there’s an indoor soft play area for the children and three outdoor play areas to experience too.

The Bear Trail

This is a great way to run off excess steam and give your kids time outdoors in the fresh air. The Bear Trail is a family assault course featuring 30 obstacles and lots of mud! This is a great, active day out for everyone, not just for the kids. You can have a go at scrambling over the bear nets, zipping down the zip wire and tumbling through the tunnels. Forget the washing and just have fun!

Diggerland

Diggerland UK is another great destination that’s action- packed and offers an exciting family day out. It’s open to all ages, subject to height restrictions, and has 20 varying activities, drives and rides you can have a go at. Try out a real JCB or an 180/360 excavator, have a go on the head-spinning Spindizzy, or reach new heights and enjoy the views on the Skyshuttle. You could also have an off-road experience with the Groundshuttle, go on the dodgems or race the go-karts!

The Grand Western Canal

This is a living heritage attraction that is perfect for history buffs. It features one of the last horse-drawn barges in the British Isles. Ideal for nature loving families, as you can spot wildlife such as swans, moorhens, mallards and kingfishers while you enjoy a day on the 200-year-old canal. Take a gentle trip at 2mph on the barge and watch the water gently ripple and listen to the distant, rhythmic, clip-clop of the horse’s hooves. An antidote to the fast pace of modern life. Please note, the horse-drawn barge normally operates trips from Easter to mid-October only.

To avoid any disappointment please, check all these attractions are open before travelling any distance.
